Synopsis
Smart, likable, Bernie Fine was the wonder boy of Wolff's, New York's most glamorous department store. A senior VP moving up, he arrives in San Fransisco to open a West Coast store. His career is skyrocketing, but his life is lacking a center.
When he looks into the wide, innocent eyes of five-year-old Jane O'Reilly, and then into the equally enchanting eyes of her mother, Liz, Bernie knows he has found what he has been looking for. Bernie thought he had found love to last a lifetime, but when Liz is stricken with cancer shortly after the birth of their first child, time becomes painfully short. Alone with two children, Bernie must face the loss and learn how to move on.
New people, new experiences, a new life alone with two kids. He meets it with courage and humor, and learns some of life's hard but precious lessons as he does.
Review
A delightful story about a man, his love and trials in life. A complex life. It teaches us how to treats others less fortunate.
This is a story about a guy, Bernard (aka Bernie) a successful person in fashion designs. He met many people in life yet they are very special in his life. Like other people, we will have no idea what will happy in future so same goes with Bernie when he meet his future wife, Elizabeth O'Reily (Liz). He then adopted Jane whom finds Bernie not only a good ftather but a good supporter.
Bernie has not quite luck with women, until he found Liz! In fact, his JEWISH mother, didn't approve of her at first due to the simple fact that Liz isn't Jewish. But then later she learns to accept her and love her.
Bernie with special people in life, Sheila (his first love), Isabella (his second) then Liz, his one and only Marrying Liz, having child, her cancer, her death and details of everything she did before her death. Then heart trembling when Jane got kidnapped. Then Megan came who then become his wife. Their romance and everything.
Life spirals out of control when the twists and turns stop. So much heart break. They move on and things take a turn, like how book got its name.
Anyways, long story short, this story of a man's journey through life same like others but how he handles it and stay strong.
